effortless.fi ("we," "us," or "our") provides a private financial platform for organizing accounts, assets, liabilities, documents, and related financial records (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your information when you use the Service. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
Account information. When you sign up or are invited to the Service, we collect details such as your name, email address, and organization membership needed to create and manage your account.
Financial data. To provide the Service, we collect financial information you voluntarily enter or connect, including account balances, transactions, holdings, assets, liabilities, insurance policies, and entity or trust details. If you connect a financial institution through our data-aggregation partner (Plaid), we receive account and transaction data from that institution on your behalf.
Documents.You may upload documents (for example statements, tax forms, deeds, or policies) directly from your device, or import them from third-party storage providers such as Google Drive. We store the document files and information extracted from them to power the Service's document-organization features.
Usage data. We automatically gather technical information about how you interact with the Service, such as IP address, browser type, device information, and usage patterns, including through analytics tools like Google Analytics on our public website.
We use your information to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service: organizing and visualizing your financial records, extracting structured data from documents you provide, sending essential service communications (such as sign-in verification and invitations), and diagnosing and fixing problems.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your personal or financial data for third-party advertising.
The Service offers an optional integration with Google Drive that lets you import files from your Google Drive into your effortless.fi document vault. This section describes exactly how we access, use, store, and share Google user data.
Data we access.When you choose to import a file, you authorize effortless.fi through Google's consent screen and select the file using the Google Picker. We request the least-privilege Google Drive scope ("drive.file"), which gives the application access only to the specific files you explicitly select — we cannot see, list, or access any other files in your Google Drive. For each file you select, we access: the file's content, and its metadata (file name, MIME type, size, checksum, and resource key). We do not access your Gmail, contacts, calendar, or any other Google data.
How we use it. We use the selected file solely to create a copy of that document in your effortless.fi document vault, at your request. Google Workspace files (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drawings) are exported to PDF during import. Imported documents are then treated like any other document you upload: they may be processed to extract structured financial data (for example, dates, amounts, and parties on a statement) exclusively to provide user-facing features of the Service to you.
Storage and retention. The imported copy of the file is stored encrypted at rest in our cloud infrastructure (Amazon Web Services, hosted in the United States), and its metadata is stored in our database, until you delete the document or your account. The Google OAuth access token used for the import is short-lived, is used only to retrieve the file(s) you selected, and is not stored on our servers. We do not maintain ongoing access to your Google Drive; each import requires your explicit selection.
Sharing. We do not sell Google user data. We do not share Google user data with third parties, except with the infrastructure service providers that store and process data on our behalf (such as Amazon Web Services) as necessary to operate the Service, or where required by law. We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not allow humans to read your Google user data unless (a) you give us affirmative permission (for example, a support request), (b) it is necessary for security purposes such as investigating abuse, or (c) it is required to comply with applicable law.
Limited Use disclosure.effortless.fi's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalized artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.
Revoking access.You can revoke effortless.fi's access to your Google account at any time via your Google Account security settings. Revoking access does not delete documents already imported into your vault; you can delete those within the Service or by contacting us at hello@effortless.fi.
Service providers. We use vetted third-party providers to operate the Service — for example Amazon Web Services for hosting and storage, and Plaid for financial-institution connections you initiate. These providers process data only on our behalf and under contractual confidentiality obligations.
People you authorize. If you invite collaborators or grant an advisory firm access to your organization, they will see the data you have chosen to share within the Service.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with legal obligations or protect our rights, users, or the public.
Business transfers. If effortless.fi undergoes a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or a notice on our website if that occurs.
We protect your information with administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and audit logging. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, so please keep your sign-in credentials confidential and notify us immediately of any suspected unauthorized access.
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may delete individual documents and records within the Service, or request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting hello@effortless.fi. We will delete or de-identify your data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention, after which it is removed from active systems and expires from backups.
You can access, update, or delete information in your account settings; disconnect linked financial institutions or third-party integrations (including Google Drive, as described above) at any time; and opt out of non-essential emails by following unsubscribe instructions or contacting us.
The Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 13 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your data is stored and processed in the United States and may be transferred from other countries. We take steps to ensure such transfers comply with applicable data-protection laws.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date, and for material changes we will provide additional notice within the Service or by email.
